Adviser to the Russian President and Executive Secretary of the Eastern Economic Forum Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov held a meeting in Moscow with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation Yermek Kosherbayev during which they discussed issues concerning bilateral cooperation as well as a Kazakh delegation’s participation in the 6th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on 2–4 September.
“Bilateral relations between our states are at the high level of stable strategic partnership and are developing in the spirit of good neighbourliness, both at the highest political level and at the level of ministries, agencies, and parliaments. During the pandemic, Russia has continued to be a key foreign economic partner of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the countries continue to create new joint investment projects. I would like to note the prospects for the format of meetings as part of cross-border cooperation. At the same time, it is important to develop not only political, but also economic partnerships, which will help to increase the number of SMEs and enhance their comfortable work in our countries,” Kobyakov said.
The officials discussed the need to establish cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in matters concerning law in order to implement joint investment projects in the Greater Eurasian Partnership and examined interaction between the countries as part of international business events, such as the Russia–Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum, which is an effective dialogue platform for both countries.
Kosherbayev said the Kazakh delegation that will attend the EEF 2021 is currently being assembled.
“The Eastern Economic Forum provides an opportunity to learn more about the regions of the Far East and the projects that are being implemented on their territory. We are counting on a practical result, so we have maximum interest in organizing meetings with officials, the business community, and foreign delegates. The Kazakh delegation will include representatives of the government and the business community. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is expected to take part in the online plenary meeting,” Kosherbayev noted.
The meeting participants also discussed the possibility of the Roscongress Foundation and a partner organization from Kazakhstan signing a cooperation agreement in order to intensify relations between the business communities of the two countries.
