The 28th
session of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)
General Conference was held in Abu Dhabi. The Innosocium Foundation, the social
platform of the Roscongress Foundation, took part in the session as part of a
delegation from the Russian Federation. The theme of the 28th
General Conference is Industry 2030 Innovate. Connect. Transform our
Future.
The
Roscongress Foundation has been successfully cooperating with UNIDO since 2016.
The two organizations have held a number of joint events. In December 2018, the
Roscongress Foundation and UNIDO signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the
UNIDO headquarters in Vienna. The Foundations participation in the 28th
UNIDO General Conference marked a continuation of their cooperation in an
effort to promote international projects in such areas as the development of
creative industries, the creation of a womens agenda, support for youth
entrepreneurship as well as the shaping of a sustainable development agenda.
«The
development of youth entrepreneurship and international cooperation, including
as regards the womens agenda, is an area of focus that maps out the successful
and sustainable growth of the economy not only in a single country, but
throughout the world. And it is crucial that we are not only pursuing economic
goals: mutual understandings between representatives of different countries are
on the rise, knowledge and ideas about the world are becoming more multilateral
and universal. For us, both the opportunity to integrate successful global
practices into Russian projects as well as cooperation and the ability to share
experiences with other countries are very important. Such projects require a
systematic approach and should receive the broadest possible support both at
the state level and from international organizations,» Adviser to the Russian
President Anton Kobyakov said.
Russian
UNIDO Goodwill Ambassador Veronika Peshkova, Roscongress Foundation Deputy CEO Elena
Marinina, and Agency for Strategic Initiatives Corporate Director Elena
Myakotnikova all took part in the visit to Abu Dhabi. Their meetings with
representatives of international organizations, delegations from other
countries, and the business community resulted in agreements on future
cooperation, including joint events on the womens agenda with the company
STRATA (UAE) and the promotion of socially significant themes at international
forums and conferences under the auspices of UNIDO concerning sustainable
development, namely support for young people, women, and creative industries.
«Russia
has a strong position in UNIDO. Our country is an active participant in global
efforts for sustainable industrial development and a stable donor to this
organization. We are effectively using UNIDO mechanisms to help partner
countries around the world, expand international industrial relations, and
promote our domestic industry. Collaboration with the Roscongress Foundation
and Innosocium provides us with new opportunities to harness the potential of
this international organization for development purposes,» said Vera
Khutorskaya, deputy head of the Russian delegation and deputy chairman of the
28th UNIDO General Conference.
«UNIDO is
a structure that pools together the efforts of different countries in the
pursuit of sustainable development. The initiative of the Ministry of Energy and
Industry of the United Arab Emirates to organize the GMIS the Global
Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit perfectly reflects the objectives
of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. In July of this year,
we jointly organized the second such summit in Russias Yekaterinburg. And now
we would like to thank the Emirates for the excellent organization of the General
Conference and congratulate you on the adoption of the Abu Dhabi Declaration,»
said Veronika Peshkova, UNIDO Goodwill Ambassador and the initiator of
International Knowledge Sharing Week.
The
conference participants devoted particular attention to bolstering the position
of the womens agenda in the international arena. Active work is also being
carried out to this end outside of forum events. In particular, the Eurasian
Womens Forum and the Roscongress Foundation are working on a joint project to create
a global online platform of the Eurasian Womens Forum.
The
discussion of the youth agenda was another key focus of the conference. In
addition to the results that have already been achieved, including the
organization of International Knowledge Sharing Week for youth, women, and
entrepreneurs together with UNIDO Goodwill Ambassador Peshkova, a project that
is being implemented with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) to develop
a youth platform was presented.
«Our meetings
and contacts with representatives of UNIDO leadership revealed serious
potential for cooperation between the Roscongress Foundation and this
Organization on the sustainable development agenda. We agreed to expand our joint
activities at events organized by the Foundation and at the international
forums of UNIDO, respectively. Our efforts aim to unite our successful
projects, collect ideas, and integrate them into a single platform so that it
can benefit society. Experience shows that working formats can be further
extended to different areas. Thus, the promotion of sustainable development is
consistent with the goals of the Innosocium Foundation the social platform of
the Roscongress Foundation and the development of the sustainable development
agenda serves as a locomotive for projects,» Roscongress Foundation Deputy CEO Elena
Marinina said.
«Establishing
effective tools to implement entrepreneurial initiatives is one of the
priorities for the development of youth entrepreneurship both in Russia and
abroad. When addressing the session of the UNIDO General Conference on the
development of youth entrepreneurship, we presented a project to develop a
Unified Platform for Young Entrepreneurs as part of which the ASI and the
Innosocium Foundation, with the support of the Roscongress Foundation, held the
DevService hackathon in August this year, which will definitely provide a
serious impetus to the promotion of entrepreneurship among young people. We are
grateful to the organizers of the event for the opportunity to not only demonstrate
our ideas, but to also study successful youth entrepreneurship projects that
are being implemented by our colleagues in other countries,» ASI Project
Manager Alexander Vayno said.
