The ‘Top 10 Innovative Environmental Companies’ contest will start
accepting applications on 12 November 2019. The contest is part of the
Roscongress Foundation’s Business Priority project, which seeks to develop a
national quality standard for high-tech, innovative companies with a high level
of liquidity on the global market. It aims to identify the most in-demand
innovative solutions capable of significantly improving environmental
conditions in their industry, both in Russia and abroad.
«The ‘Top 10 Innovative Environmental Companies’ contest will help identify
the most effective solutions to environmental issues, such as the creation of
modern waste processing infrastructure, reducing pollution, and the restoration
of natural areas through the use of promising innovative technologies,» said
Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment of the Russian Federation
Dmitry Kobylkin.
The contest’s themes align with global environmental priorities. They
include effective waste management, digitalization of environmental data, the
use of artificial intelligence for environmental purposes, development of
alternate energy sources, reduction of environmental pollution, and
preservation of species diversity.
The contest’s expert committee is composed of representatives from the
Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, the
Roscongress Foundation, the Skolkovo Foundation, and Russia’s leading venture
funds. The experts will evaluate the projects’ environmental impact, global
commercial prospects, and the innovativeness of their approach to solving
existing environmental problems.
«The contest finalists will be awarded Business Priority status, providing
them with a wide range of opportunities for attracting investments and scaling
their business. We want to see entrants with a lot of development potential,
including in international markets. The majority of countries are facing
environmental challenges and our goal is providing holistic support to Russian
innovative companies ready to improve the environmental situation in Russia and
abroad,» said Business Priority Project Director Marianna Skragan.
The results of the ‘Top 10 Innovative Environmental Companies’ contest will
be announced at the Russian Investment Forum, where finalists will present
their solutions at an Innovation Space pitch session. The forum will be held in
Sochi from 12–14 February 2020.
There are currently two other contests being held as part of the
Roscongress Foundation’s Business Priority project. The ‘Top 10 Innovative
Companies in the Energy Sector’ contest is being organized with the Ministry of
Energy of the Russian Federation and aims to identify the most popular and
promising innovative solutions with the potential to transform the energy
sector in Russia and abroad.
The ‘Top 10 Innovative Companies in Healthcare’ contest is being held in
partnership with the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and with the
support of the Content Foundation for the Development of Expert and Analytical
Activities and the Skolkovo Foundation. The contest will facilitate the
implementation of governmental health policy, improving people’s quality of
life and infrastructure through the introduction of innovative medical
technologies, including early diagnostic systems and remote patient monitoring.
The final stage of the contest and the awards ceremony will be held at the
Healthy Life Forum on 12 February 2020.
