The Digital
Economy Development Fund and the Roscongress Foundation are organizing the
Pitch Session for a Billion at GMIS 2019 as a part of the Innovation Space
project. The National Engineering Corporation is the general partner of the
session. Industrial development projects support and scaling up, as well as
attracting investments from global funds, is the main objective of the event.
At the first stage
of the competition, an expert jury will select just 100 projects from among the registered that are to participate in
the qualifying round. Russian start-ups have every chance to make it to the
final, as the terms of the pitch session stipulate for more than half of participants were residents of the organizing
country. Moreover, projects can count on an objective assessment by the
international jury working with an OpenBook approach.
Voting will
identify 15 best start-ups that are
to receive the Business Priority status and present their projects at GMIS
2019. Nonetheless, each of the 100 finalists of the Pitch Session for a Billion
is guaranteed access to the worlds major industrial groups and corporations,
the subsequent implementation and scaling.
A four-minute
presentation and two minutes to answer the judges questions in this short
time, start-ups must prove to state corporations and the major industrial
companies that their project is worthy of support. Not only will their
international assessment depend on how start-ups present themselves, but
further funding, because both Russian investment funds and a delegation of Arab
investors and representatives of the largest Mubadala Investment Company will
attend the pitch session. Following the results of the pitch session, RUB 1
billion will be distributed among the presented projects.
At the end of the
Pitch Session for a Billion, participants will visit the acceleration area to
network with the funds, discuss projects in detail and conclude investment
agreements.
