The first meeting of the Government work group led by the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko on the hosting and preparation of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum was held on 13 June 2018. Representatives of public authorities of the Russian Federation and St. Petersburg, as well as leaders of organizations took part in the meeting.
Participants discussed organizational issues of the upcoming event, including the preparation of the city and the venue, as well as the business programme of the Forum.
The Eurasian Women’s Forum is the largest expert platform for discussing the role of women in modern society. The Forum aims to consolidate and develop cooperation between female leaders in finding solutions to pressing issues and enhancing the atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding in the world based on universal values of humanism, rights and dignity.
More than 1,500 participants will take part in the Forum: female parliamentarians, representatives of executive authorities, international organizations, business and scientific communities, public organizations, charity projects managers, female leaders of the international women’s movement from more than 100 countries.
The Forum aims to promote the dialogue, integration and the development of international cooperation in general. The main topic of the upcoming event is Women for Global Security and Sustainable Development.
The programme of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum, maintaining continuity with the First Forum, aligns with the current international agenda and with the provisions of the UN General Assembly Declaration ‘Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’.
Special features of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum are: a number of international discussion platforms, meetings, open presentations and international organizations and associations’ research, including the special session by UNIDO, the expert platform by UNESCO, the presentation of the World Health Organization report, the presentation of the International Labour Organization research, BRICS Business Club.
The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States are the organizers of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum. The Roscongress Foundation is the operator the Forum.
The Second Eurasian Women’s Forum will take place on 20–21 September 2018 in the Tauride Palace in St. Petersburg.
