Russian Ministry Discusses Development of Exhibition, Fair, and Congress Activities in Moscow

В Москве обсудили перспективы развития выставочно-ярмарочной и конгрессной деятельности

Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Alexey Gruzdev chaired a meeting at the ministry in Moscow to discuss a plan for the implementation of a road map to develop exhibition and fair activities for the period until 2025. During the meeting, St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Director Alexey Valkov presented a report with proposals from the Roscongress Foundation.

“One of the fundamental stages in the implementation of the roadmap approved by the Russian government in Directive No. 1957-r dated 16 July 2022 is an in-depth and comprehensive analysis of the region’s convention and exhibition infrastructure, which will make it possible to develop an effective plan for the modernization and strategic development of the exhibition, fair, and convention infrastructure of the Russian regions,” Valkov said.

The Roscongress Foundation, the federal executive authorities, and the heads of the Russian regions are already actively working on planning and creating large congress venues for business events in the Far East, not only on Russky Island, but also in Kamchatka. Building and distributing this type of infrastructure throughout the country will help strengthen ties at the regional level and attract new international events.

The restrictions imposed due to COVID-19 necessitated a review of work related to the entry of foreign participants into Russia for convention and exhibition events. Jointly with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Roscongress Foundation has developed and tested a document at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) that can verify the status of participants in real-time without using special technical equipment. This document has been chosen as the basis for obtaining a visa, boarding an aircraft, as well as crossing the border upon presenting the main package of documents.
