    Water resources The main body of water in the region is Lake Baikal. Its total volume of water is 23389 cubic km. Each year an eco-friendly water withdrawal from the lake amounts to 50 million cubic meters.

    Forest resources The total forest area in the Republic of Buryatia is 29.6 hectares. This area provides all the necessary conditions for the development of the wood processing industry. The total timber volume is 2.2 billion cubic meters.
