Republic of Buryatia at ‘Far East Street’ exhibition: helicopters, tours and contemporary art

4 August 2021
Республика Бурятия представит вертолеты, туристические маршруты и современное искусство на выставке «Улица Дальнего Востока»

The Republic of Buryatia will take part in the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition on 2–7 September in Vladivostok. The exhibition will be hosted by the 6th Eastern Economic Forum organized by the Roscongress Foundation with support from the executive office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District. The name of Buryatia’s display is ‘Baikal—Buryatia. Traditions that have a future’.

«Following a presidential order, the Republic of Buryatia joined the Far Eastern Federal District on 3 November 2018. We have made a number of decisions that facilitate social and economic development based on requests from the head of the Republic, the People’s Khural and investors. We have already put certain efforts in these areas. Schools and kindergartens, hospitals and municipal clinics are being built and repaired through the single Far Eastern subsidy. The Far Eastern mortgage is available at a lower rate. Local residents can apply for the Far Eastern hectare programme. Buryatia is implementing measures to develop its economy. The Republic has two advanced development zones — Buryatia and Selenginsk. Tourism support is also important. Lake Baikal is a unique natural treasure not only for Buryatia, but for Russia and the whole world as well. Lake Baikal is one of a kind. We need to do our absolute best to ensure people can enjoy it without damaging the environment. Participants and guests of the Eastern Economic Forum will get to learn more about the life and development of Buryatia,» said Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District.

Split into four areas — each designating a season, the pavilion will focus on the region’s investment and tourism potential and its development outlook.

Thus, the ‘Winter’ and ‘Summer’ areas will be dedicated to tourism in Buryatia. Visitors will use an interactive display to select a Baikal itinerary or book a tour in Buryatia.

The ‘Spring’ area will host an exhibition featuring local painters and sculptors. It will also have a large screen to show the project entitled ‘Buryat art coming to life’. This part of the display will also present works of local contemporary sculptors based on Buryat mythology, history, and ethnic tradition. This area will also offer an exhibition and sale of jade items.

The ‘Autumn’ area has scheduled presentations of two projects: renovation of Ulan-Ude centre and a new data centre in Mukhorshibir District.

The central part of the pavilion will offer interactive panels that will showcase Buryatia’s key investment projects.

«Our pavilion and EEF stages will help Forum guests learn more about our Republic’s unique culture. We will offer several concerts featuring the Buryat National Theatre of Song and Dance ‘Baikal’, the folk singing and dancing company Razdolye, the Buryat Circus School, Sezon Dozhdey band, Daida folk band, and other performers. These programmes will present the culture of Buryats, the Starozhily, Cossacks, the Semeiskie (Old Believers of Zabaikalye), as well as contemporary music. EEF guests will get a chance to know what being in Buryatia feels like and to enjoy its cultural heritage,» said Head of Buryatia Alexei Tsydenov.

Compared to 2019 exhibition, the outdoor part will get updated. The pavilion will offer a sale of traditional crafts, local ethnic style or natural Baikal products. Guests will get a chance to consult a specialist in traditional Oriental medicine pulse diagnosis and buy officinal mixtures based on their recommendations.

The centrepiece of Buryatia’s display will be two aircraft models that are set to be manufactured at Ulan-Ude aircraft plant — a life-sized model of the new VRT500, a light multifunctional helicopter, and VRT240, a multifunctional unmanned helicopter.

The ‘Far East Street’ exhibition will be open on 2–7 September. On 2–4 September, it will only be available to Forum participants, while on 5–6 September it will be open to residents of Vladivostok. 7 September will be the social day at the exhibition — it will be exclusively available to families with multiple children, retirees, veterans, and representatives of youth organizations.
