Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the Russian President and Executive Secretary of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Organizing Committee, held a meeting at the SPIEF with a delegation of representatives from Bahrain, which included Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bahrain to the Russian Federation Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati, Bahrain Sovereign Wealth Fund Mumtalakat Chairman Khalid Alromaihi, and Bahrain Economic Development Council Chief Executive Khalid Humaidan.
The meeting participants discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and the Bahrain delegation’s traditional participation in the SPIEF.
«Last year marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our country and the Kingdom of Bahrain. It is gratifying that cooperation between our states is currently developing dynamically, both in the context of close foreign policy coordination and in terms of building up business cooperation and humanitarian interaction.
«Delegations from Bahrain are actively involved in the SPIEF each year, and I am glad that this Forum is no exception, despite all the restrictions caused by the pandemic,» Kobyakov said.
In addition, the participants also agreed during the discussion to hold the Days of Russia in Bahrain, which are scheduled for late 2021 and early 2022. The Roscongress Foundation, the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the Mumtalakat Sovereign Wealth Fund, and the Bahrain Economic Development Council signed the relevant agreement of intent at the SPIEF, which marks a significant step towards the event.
The sides expressed confidence that Russian-Bahraini relations will continue to develop progressively in all areas, while preserving and strengthening the traditionally friendly ties between the countries.
