Russian Expo 2025 Bid Committee opens office in Paris A reception took place on 16 November in Paris to mark the opening of the office of the Russian Expo 2025 Bid Committee. The Paris office is located on the territory of the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in France. Attendees at the event included senior figures from the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), General Assembly delegates from more than 40 countries, ambassadors from 12 states, senior government figures from Sverdlovsk Region, and members of the Russian Expo 2025 Bid Committee. Guests were welcomed by Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Yevgeny Kuivashev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the French Republic Alexei Meshkov, and Head of the Russian Expo 2025 Bid Committee Svetlana Sagaydak. Kuivashev congratulated those gathered at the opening, and invited them to visit Yekaterinburg whenever they pleased. “You’ll see that Yekaterinburg is the perfect venue for Expo 2025, and speaking to its inhabitants you’ll understand just how strong their desire is to become a World Expo capital,” the governor said. Alexei Meshkov also took part in welcoming the guests. He underlined the importance of the Bid Committee’s Paris office as a factor in promoting Russia’s bid, and said that it would become a platform for interaction and for seeking new ideas and solutions for Expo 2025. “In writing the history of Expo 2025, we want to attract the best. We want to bring together the most forward-thinking and vibrant ideas, and the most experienced and boldest specialists. We want Expo 2025 in Yekaterinburg to be a shared story of success. We share a common future with you, and we must create it together,” Sagaydak told guests. The event included a presentation from the Bid Committee team, members of which had come to Paris to take part in the BIE General Assembly on the previous day. Delegates were introduced to a feedback page created on the Bid Committee website. The page is intended to serve as a constant communications link between the Bid Committee and BIE delegates. It is hoped that this feature will help the committee to gather proposals which can be used in the creation of the Expo 2025 city. Sagaydak asked BIE delegates to share their ideas and wishes for Yekaterinburg’s hosting of the World Expo in 2025, saying that the Bid Committee would pay close attention to each proposal. The theme of the bid to host World Expo 2025 in Yekaterinburg is “Changing the World: Innovation and a Better Life for Future Generations”. A delegation from the Russian Expo 2025 Bid Committee spoke at the 162nd General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions in Paris, which included Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, Head of the Russian Expo 2025 Bid Committee Svetlana Sagaydak, journalist Vladimir Pozner, and ballerina Ilse Liepa.
