A postage cancellation ceremony dedicated to both the 2nd International Tiger Forum and the Year of the Tiger was held at the Far East Street exhibition on 5 September, the start day of EEF 2022.
Konstantin Chuichenko, Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation, Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, Khin Maung Yee, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and Maxim Akimov, Director General of Russian Post, took part in the commemorative stamp cancellation ceremony. They also were given the right to sign the honorary postal envelopes. From this moment, the stamp and postal envelope entitled «2nd International Tiger Forum» entered into postal circulation.
«I am confident that our Forum will strengthen the attention the international community pays to tiger conservation. And this, in turn, will support the entire ecosystem in which the striped predator lives,» said Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Konstantin Chuichenko.
The postage stamp depicts a rare species painted by Sergey Ulyanovsky. The stamp has been issued in 176,000 copies and will be available at Russian Post offices starting 5 September.
«Restoration and preservation of the tiger population is a task for all countries where the predator lives. Several hundred Amur tigers already live in the Russian Far East, and this is the most significant victory for both the master of the Taiga and the humans. Letters with a postage stamp commemorating the event will be received in different parts of the world. The Amur tiger is one of the symbols of Russia; we take care of it and care about it, and that is what our stamp brings to the world,» said Alexander Kozlov, head of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
A first-day postage imprint was also produced, which has a fixed date and is used to stamp only on the day the stamp is issued.
«This is not the first time Russian Post is issuing a stamp with the Amur tiger, and I am convinced that this will not be the last. Every great success of our country in preserving and protecting these animals will be marked with a new stamp. Besides, a year ago here at the Eastern Economic Forum together with the Amur Tiger Centre we presented postage boxes dedicated to the Centres projects. Today, you can buy them in almost every post office and send your parcel in them,» said Maxim Akimov, General Director of Russian Post.
Besides the Russian Federation, the stamp dedicated to the 2nd International Tiger Forum was issued by other countries of the striped predator habitat: Kingdom of Cambodia, Peoples Republic of China, Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Lao Peoples Democratic Republic, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Republic of India, and Republic of Indonesia.
The organizers of the Tiger Forum are the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, the Amur Tiger Centre, and the Roscongress Foundation.
