Land of Volcanoes: Kamchatka Presents Projects for Investors and Tourists at ‘Far East Street’

26 August 2022
Земля вулканов: на «Улице Дальнего Востока» Камчатский край покажет проекты для инвесторов и туристов

Kamchatka Territory will take part in the large-scale ‘Far East Street’ exhibition, which opens in Vladivostok on 5 September. The region will present major investment and social projects, tourist routes and unique natural attractions, as well as priority development segments.

The main display of Kamchatka as ‘the land of volcanoes and geysers’ will take place on the first floor of the Volcano Pavilion. The space will be divided into thematic zones designed to showcase the diversity of this Far Eastern region. A meeting area will be located on the second floor of the pavilion.

The entrance area is a chalet-looking living room. Visitors will see cosy shelves with books about Kamchatka, regional souvenirs, spectacular photographs, and ’local’ items — skis, snowboards, surfboards, etc.

The zone dedicated to tourism will showcase key industry investment projects, an interactive service on the Rosreestr’s Land for Tourism project, as well as a mock-up of the region’s new airport. Visitors will see films and videos about natural areas of Kamchatka and appreciate presentations of projects. Visitors will be able to choose the best tourist route and tour company.

In the ‘History and Peoples’ zone guests will learn about the history of the peninsula’s exploration. Kamchatka will present itself as a place whose peoples have lived in harmony and accord with nature since ancient times and have cherished and preserved the treasures given to them by nature.

The introduction to nature and ecology will continue in the next thematic zone, where guests will learn why Kamchatka is called a protected land. In the pavilion one will get to see which natural complexes of the region attract travellers and scientists and what is done today to preserve fragile ecosystems.

The Economy and Business zone will present Kamchatka’s priority sectors of development based on investment projects. A panoramic screen acting as a situational centre and controlled by a touch panel will show infographics illustrating key sectors of the local economy. These include fishery, transport, ship repair, logistics, and green energy.

Special attention will be paid to social projects and the development of the regional capital. For example, a schematic outline map of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky agglomeration will present a master plan for the development of the region’s capital. Visitors will be able to choose one of the proposed modes: ‘Current Situation’, ‘Zoning’, ‘Key Projects’, ‘Urban Development’, ‘Investment Platforms’, etc.

In the ‘Interactive and Souvenirs’ zone, guests will be able to take a photo in front of the helicopter (on the video) and buy a Kamchatka souvenir.

«The Eastern Economic Forum is a unique platform for Far Eastern regions. On the one hand, we present the results of social and economic development over the year. On the other hand, we are establishing mutually beneficial ties and attracting investments. EEF gives us an opportunity to present Kamchatka both on the national and international levels and show that it is a promising territory for work and business,» noted Governor of Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Solodov.

Far East Street will be open on the waterfront of Ajax Bay at the campus of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) for guests and participants of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum from 5 to 8 September. After the end of the Forum, the exhibition will go on until 11 September. Entry for residents of Vladivostok and other cities is free.

The event is organized by the Roscongress Foundation. Registration for media representatives at the EEF 2022 is open on the official website.

All real-time news on the preparation for EEF 2022 is available on the official Forum social network accounts.
