The Vladivostok International Rowing
Regatta will be held on 9 September as part of the sports and entertainment
programme of the Eastern Economic Forum. The regatta includes competitions for
student and professional teams. Anna Prakaten, a winner of the Tokyo Olympic
Games, and other distinguished rowers will take to the start in the Novik Bay.
«The International Rowing Regatta in
Vladivostok is about opportunities. Russian athletes will get international
practice. Student teams will compete alongside leading ones, which is important
for sharing experience. Rowers trained for Tokyo 2020 in Vladivostok. This
place has strong rowing traditions. This is why the Regatta will play an
important role in developing this athletic discipline in the Far East,» said Odes
Baysultanov, Deputy Minister of Sport.
The Russian athletes will compete
against professional and student teams from Belarus, Kazakhstan, and
Uzbekistan, as well as countries of Asia Pacific. Negotiations with rowers from
other countries are continuing. «Vladivostok is surrounded by water, and this
is a very harmonious and logical event. The Regatta will promote international
cooperation. I hope that these competitions will become another bridge that
will bring us together,» said Pavel Volkov, State Secretary Deputy Minister
for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.
Norilsk Nickel became the general
partner of the Vladivostok International Regatta. «The development of sport is
one of the companys priorities. This project effectively combines support for
Russias national team leaders, which they particularly need right now, the
development of university sports, the promotion of the Far East, and modern
technological solutions,» said Andrey Grachev, Vice President of Norilsk
Nickel.
Rowers will compete not only on the
water. An online indoor rowing race on special simulators will take place at
the Ministry of Sports pavilion on Far East Street. «We plan that the race
will involve not only EEF 2022, but also participants from other Russian regions,
as well as our partners from abroad,» said Alexey Svirin, president of the
Russian Rowing Federation. EEF 2022 participants will also be able to try their
hand at rowing on special simulators and get a lesson from renowned rowers.
