An online platform entitled ‘Sports Investment Bureau’, which aims to attract extra-budgetary finance to the sports sector, is being developed by the Roscongress Foundation and is supported by the Ministry of Sport.
«Current conditions mean that we are finding it difficult to attract extra-budgetary funds to finance sports events, federations and clubs, as well as the sports sector as a whole, via existing market mechanisms. The Sports Investment Bureau could be an effective solution to this. It is intended as a single communication platform for various sports organizations, national federations, marketing agencies, television companies, media companies and businesses, as well as leading partnership and sponsorship activities. The initiative will be headed up by the Ministry of Sport», said Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin, speaking at a wrap-up meeting of the internal affairs board.
«One of the intended targets of the Strategy for Developing Physical Fitness and Sport in Russia through 2030 involves attracting a certain amount of investment to the sector. Establishing the Sports Investment Bureau will allow us to establish a modern market for sports broadcasting rights and advertising opportunities, create a transparent platform where sport, the media and business can interact, realize the growing commercial potential of the sector and lower the share of budgetary expenses that are spent on organizing and holding significant sporting and spectator events», said Georgy Bryusov, Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation.
